Frequently Asked Questions About Milford Hills Hunt Club

hunters

Wisconsin is a great place for wingshooting, and Shooting Sportsman Endorsed Lodge Milford Hills Hunt Club has earned the reputation for being one of the finest destinations in the Badger State. Director of Operations Taylor Williams was glad to answer a few questions and highlight some of the things that guests seem to appreciate and enjoy most about the establishment.

Where is your lodge located?

Our lodge is located halfway between Milwaukee and Madison. Within our property, the “North Lodge” sits near our Benelli hunting field. This is great, because our guests can call us from the lodge and walk out the back door to get right into the field for a great hunt.

What bird species do you offer, and what is the limit?

At Milford Hills we do not have a bag limit. We allow guests to shoot any upland birds they see in the field. We hunt ring-necked pheasant, chukar and bobwhite quail.

What is your hunter-to-guide ratio?

We allow up to four Guns in the field per guide, which is the perfect arrangement for hunting the kind of cover we have.

What are the terrain and cover like?

Milford Hills really takes pride in the great habitat for upland hunting that we manicure every season. We burn our switchgrass each spring to help create great, thick, consistent grass throughout the property. We also plant corn and grain sorghum in our hunting fields. The birds do very well in this kind of habitat.

Do you hunt with pointing or flushing dogs? Can a hunter bring and hunt with his or her own dog?

We offer both pointing- and flushing-dog handlers. We like to give the hunters the option of what type of dogs they get the honor to hunt behind. And we always welcome our guests to bring their own hunting companions with them. Our lodge is pet friendly, with kennels in the lower level of the lodge so that the dogs can be housed in the lodge for the evening.

Do you welcome non-hunting spouses—and if so, what is there for them to do?

We do welcome spouses to join the hunters in the field for the experience. Our Clubhouse has a full commercial restaurant and bar along with a real wood-burning fireplace, so sometimes the spouses will find themselves staying warm by the fire in the Club while their partners are in the field. If the spouse is interested, we can arrange a handgun lesson too.

How is your lodging managed?

Our Lodge is a standalone house with seven beds that would be occupied by one group per night. We can launder clothes for groups and provide other services, if needed, at the Club. For any reservations, you can email bookings@milfordhills.com, and we will gladly work with you!
