Heritage 1865
“My trip to Heritage 1865, in Iowa, was a great one that I would not hesitate to recommend to anyone.
“The lodge is very nice, but what really stands out is how I was made to feel like part of the family. The lodge staff, the chef and my guide were all extremely hospitable people who appreciated the company of their guests.
“I booked a pheasant hunt and—thanks to my guide and his great dogs—was very happy with the number of ringnecks I shot. I was also pleasantly surprised by the huge number of quail we encountered, which was a big bonus. In addition to the bird numbers, I also enjoyed the ‘hunter friendly’ terrain that was easy to walk and shoot in.
“Simply put, the food I was served at Heritage might very well be the best I have ever experienced at a hunting lodge . . . or anywhere. The chef had me looking forward to every meal and happily supplied the recipes for the dishes I enjoyed the most. The main purpose of my wingshooting trips is to shoot birds, but I would be remiss if I didn’t mention how incredible the dining aspect of the trip was.
“When I put all of the above together and consider what I paid for the two-day/three-night package, I’d say the overall value of a hunt at Heritage is extremely high compared to other upscale lodges. I definitely give the place two thumbs up!”
