When most people think of attending a shooting school, they imagine traveling to some mundane shooting facility and banging away at clay targets with a generic house gun. Something more workmanlike than pleasurable. But imagine if you could fine-tune your shooting skills in a breathtaking environment while using beautifully crafted shotguns. Welcome to The Fausti Wingshooting School @ Hollywood Farms.
Sponsored by Italian gunmaker Fausti, the two-night, three-day schools are held at Hollywood Farms, a “conscientious sporting estate” in Jeffersonville, Georgia, less than two hours south of Atlanta. The estate is named for the American holly trees that dot the property, and students stay in its exquisitely preserved 1850 Antebellum home. The five bedrooms offering single or double occupancy ensure small class sizes and individual attention.
Students of all skill levels are schooled on the instinctive wingshooting method by expert instructors, with 1½ days of instruction and clay shooting followed by a morning quail hunt. Students are asked to bring their own shotguns, but Fausti over/unders and side-by-sides (reserved in advance) will be on hand to shoot.
The all-inclusive price—$2,780 for single occupancy or $4,760 for double occupancy—includes lodging, meals and drinks (including wine and spirits), the use of Fausti guns and ammunition.
The schedule of schools is: “Improve Your Shooting Skills,” January 25 to 27 2023, and April 20 to 22; “Ladies Only,” March 8 to 10; and “Beginner/Introduction,” May 18 to 20.
