The time is here. Early fall marks the season opener for one of America’s most iconic wingshooting pursuits: Maine grouse and woodcock hunting. It's the time of year when bird hunters flock to Leen’s Lodge, in the tiny village of Grand Lake Stream, as they have done for generations, to partake in all the aspects that make the experience such a special event.

Leen’s sits in the heart of Maine’s North Woods—one of the most pristine and unique settings in the entire country.

The lodge is situated on the south end of fabled Grand Lake, a place that has attracted sportsmen since the late 1800s.

Grouse and woodcock hunting is challenging, making every bird a true trophy.

Woodcock are, without a double, one of the most unique birds in the uplands.

Historic accommodations make a trip to Leen’s feel like a trip back to the golden era of bird hunting.

From lobster to prime rib to homemade ice cream, there’s always something special in store come meal time.

Is there a better way to cap off a memorable day in the field?
