Readers & Writers Adventures

by Shooting Sportsman Magazine

Each year we carefully compile a slate of hosted hunts at some of the finest wingshooting venues in the US. Not only are these world-class experiences, but they also are opportunities to meet other sportsmen with similar passions. Year after year these trips fill up with hunters eager for great experiences. For 2025-’26 we will welcome guests to four exciting destinations to pursue a combination of pheasants, bobwhite quail, chukar and Hungarian partridge. Please keep in mind that these hunts fill up quickly, so be sure to check your calendar and book early.

Classic Driven Partridge in Spain

Kick off the new year with a bang! Join Shooting Sportsman Shoot Manager, Ryan Doughty in Toledo, Spain from January 28 to Feburary 1, 2027 for driven red-legged partridge. Among 2,000 wild hectares of olive groves, forests and deep ravines, Guns will take their positions at pegs and take on some of the most challenging birds on the planet. The varied topography will result in a wide variety of shots for all skill levels over the course of three days—one warm-up day on clays and pigeons followed by two 400-bird driven days. Given the speed and volume of redlegs, guests are encouraged to use a pair of guns. The cost of the trip is $10,995, and the lodge can provide a pair of guns for an additional $700. The price of the shoot includes ground transportation, four nights’ accommodations in Madrid and the luxurious Spanish lodge, meals, drinks, a personal loader, gun permits, liability insurance and ammunition. Non-shooting guests are welcome for $2,200. Not included in the price is airfare to Madrid, gratuities, a premium bar bill and travel insurance (highly recommended).
