Hunt.Vet Connects Gundog Owners with Vets

From our November/December 2025 Issue

Sporting dogs are far more than pets; they’re trained athletes, trusted hunting partners and vital participants in every day afield. But finding a veterinarian who understands the needs of sporting dogs—and the people who hunt with them isn’t always easy. That’s the problem Hunt.Vet was designed to solve.

Founded by veterinarian and upland hunter Dr. Seth Bynum, Hunt.Vet is a crowdsourced, searchable directory of veterinary clinics that have earned the trust of the gundog community. The idea grew from years of conversations between hunting veterinarians and sportsmen, many of whom voiced the same frustration: It’s tough to connect with a vet who truly “gets it,” especially when traveling or living far from major hubs.

Hunt.Vet doesn’t certify veterinarians, nor does it highlight only those with formal sporting-dog specialties. Instead, it elevates practitioners—often in rural, mixed-animal practices—who’ve demonstrated an understanding of the unique physical and medical needs of hunting dogs and the issues that befall gundogs in the field. Vets are scored using a proprietary algorithm that accounts for emergency availability, specialty services, staff expertise and—importantly—whether they are hunters or dog handlers.

While Hunt.Vet recognizes that excellent care can come from any qualified practitioner, it also acknowledges the unique trust that forms when shared experience is part of the vet-client relationship. In an era when corporate consolidation and shrinking after-hours availability is increasingly impacting vet practices, Hunt.Vet offers a grassroots solution: a practical way for sportsmen and women to find veterinary partners who value the gundog-human bond.
