Readers & Writers Adventures

Each year we carefully compile a slate of hosted hunts at some of the finest wingshooting venues in the US. Not only are these world-class experiences, but they also are opportunities to meet other sportsmen with similar passions. We draw heavily on readers and past guests to shape the most diverse and inspiring hunting opportunities. For 2024-’25 we will welcome guests to four exciting destinations to pursue a combination of pheasants, bobwhite quail, chukar and Hungarian partridge. Please keep in mind that these hunts fill up quickly, so be sure to check your calendar and book early.

Mississippi Bobwhite Quail Hunt in the Black Belt Region

From December 12 to 16 we’re making our second trip to Prairie Wildlife, in West Point, Mississippi. Shooting Sportsman Editor in Chief Ralph Stuart will host the trip, and guests will fly into Columbus, Mississippi, before being transported the short 30 minutes to the lodge. This is unlimited bobwhite quail hunting in the fabled Black Prairie region, and the lodge is one of the finest in the South. The cost for this three-day hunt is $6,495 and includes single-occupancy accommodations and everything but gratuities, taxes and the cost of shipping birds home.

Quail Hunting in Georgia's Quail Belt

We kick off 2025 with a trip to Wynfield Plantation, in Albany, Georgia, from January 5 to 9. The host for this trip will be Shooting Sportsman Director of Wingshooting Terry Bombeke, and guests will fly into the nearby airport in Albany before being transported to the heart of Georgia’s Quail Belt. This is classic walk-up bobwhite hunting behind hard-charging bird dogs in pristine habitat of native grasses and timberland. The price of $4,895 includes single-occupancy rooms and everything except gratuities, taxes and the cost of shipping birds home.
