PRIMLAND
The Blue Ridge Mountains in south-central Virginia provide the perfect setting for one of the country’s premier sporting resorts: Primland. This luxury retreat sits on 12,000 private acres, the topography of which lends itself to one of the few legitimate driven shoots in the US. The combination of hilly terrain and woodlands allows beaters to present high pheasants over the Guns, and loaders and dog handlers complete the experience. In addition, guided walk-up hunts behind pointing dogs offer opportunities for pheasants, quail and chukars on the rolling, well-managed grounds. Primland's expansive lodge sits atop a mountain affording sweeping views of the highlands, and individual cottages, mountain homes and even tree houses provide additional accommodations. A variety of dining options are on offer in the resort’s restaurants, as are fine wines from an extensive cellar. Other amenities include sporting clays and 5 Stand setups, a world-class golf course and a full-service spa. With all there is to do and see, it’s little wonder that Primland is considered the ultimate mountain getaway.
