Heritage 1865

HERITAGE 1865

Hunting upland birds on a Midwestern family farm is a truly classic wingshooting experience. Heritage 1865 is owned by the Ewing family, which settled in southern Iowa more than 150 years ago and now offers hunting for ring-necked pheasants and bobwhite quail on 3,000 acres of prime ground. The farm is managed to accommodate small groups (no more than four hunters per guide) who enjoy fast-paced shooting over well-trained pointing and flushing dogs. Heritage 1865 prides itself on having guides who are both highly skilled and extremely personable. The lodge is an impressive structure featuring vaulted ceilings and a great room that welcomes guests with a warm fire and comfortable sofas. Meals are some of the highlights of the operation and often include dishes from recipes that have been passed down through generations. The Ewings are truly masters of service and hospitality, with the family and staff being attentive to the wants and needs of their guests.
