Harpole's Heartland Lodge

HARPOLE'S HEARTLAND LODGE

Many hunters yearn for the old days—a simpler time when life’s pace was slower and a good walk behind honest dogs produced quality shooting. Harpole’s Heartland Lodge, in west-central Illinois, celebrates those days with a traditional upland experience: hunting behind well-trained pointing dogs in old-style farm habitat. Overgrown fencerows, native prairie grasses, and corn and milo fields provide food and cover for bobwhite quail and pheasants. Never knowing which is going to flush is half the fun. Upland hunts can be combined with another traditional pleasure: duck and goose hunting from heated blinds in flooded crops or on the nearby Mississippi and Illinois rivers. This legendary flyway supports a variety of migratory waterfowl. And the experience doesn’t end in the field. Heartland’s amenities are a modern take on the way things were, with luxury lodges and private cabins, hearty home-cooked meals and a staff steeped in Midwestern hospitality. With such great hunting and respect for the past, Heartland Lodge is proof that you can go home again.
