Swamp Magnum. The name alone strikes fear in the hearts of ducks and geese. As it should. Made in Turkey and imported by CZ-USA, this over/under is purpose built for use in the marshes, fields and waterbodies where waterfowl live. The 3½" 12-gauge is more tool than work of art—capable of unleashing large payloads to bring down big birds—but as double-gunning ’fowlers, we were drawn to it like ducks to dekes.

I tested a Swamp Magnum on sea ducks and brant—shooting from a boat for mostly decoying birds. For my fillings’ sake, I forwent 3½" shells and opted for 3" Kent Fasteel No. 3s. The gun swung nicely and knocked birds from the sky—although deliberate follow-up shots at ducks on the water were shoulder slammers. The safety also operated roughly, costing me several shot opportunities. Overall, the gun performed well, and I never felt handicapped with only two shots. The Swamp Magnum is a great fit for the hunter who is confident in his shooting and enjoys the simplicity of double-barrels. Price: $929 in black; $1,029 in Realtree Max-5 camo.
