Channeling Sage Grouse

We like to spread the news on gamebird-related conservation action as often as possible, and here’s a simple and gratifying way you can stay informed on efforts to protect one of our most threatened and iconic species: the sage grouse. Greater sage grouse have declined in number during the past century because of the loss of sagebrush habitats essential for their survival, and they are now a candidate species for listing under the Endangered Species Act, with a decision expected September 30.

As part of a pioneering, proactive collaborative effort, the Sage Grouse Initiative is a partnership of ranchers, government agencies, universities, nonprofit groups and businesses that was formed to aid in the conservation effort through sustainable ranching practices. Conservation projects and easements have thus far protected 4.4 million acres across 11 Western states.

This video offers the story of one such project. It's hosted on the SGI YouTube Channel, so you can subscribe there, explore all of SGI’s videos and get a notification every time a new video is posted.
